The Sound of Healing Hearts: Donate to Steth-of-Hope

The Stethoscope, universally recognized as a physician’s symbol, helps medical students develop their clinical examination skills. However, in low/middle income communities, aspiring young doctors face substantial obstacles due to the high costs and limited accessibility of these essential devices.


In 2021, Glia and Make a Medic collaborated on the Steth-of-Hope campaign, which successfully funded the distribution of 200 stethoscopes across two medical schools in Africa. Dr. S. Mutemwa, Assistant Dean for Undergraduates at the University of Zambia, emphasized the significance of this campaign, as approximately 40% to 50% of students lack the means to afford a stethoscope. This inaccessibility extends far beyond the universities we have already supported, and sustained assistance for students in these regions is essential to ensure completion of their medical training.


Glia, in partnership with Make a Medic, will campaign for ongoing donations to reduce stethoscope scarcity in Africa, thus placing this essential tool with every possible medical professional. Through our collaboration with various African universities , we will assess the schools and students with the greatest need for support. All donated funds will be dedicated to manufacturing and distributing stethoscopes to these students, aligning with our ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare in developing countries and fulfilling our mission of equal care for all.
